Protesters at St. Louis University blocked an intersection Wednesday outside the venue where conservative personality Matt Walsh was scheduled to give a lecture.
Walsh, an author and podcast host for the Daily Wire, gave a lecture on “why the pro-life movement is center-stage in the culture war” at St. Louis University Wednesday, drawing a crowd of protesters outside and an audience of over 300 inside the venue.

The lecture, hosted by Young America’s Foundation, had to be moved on two separate occasions after administrators and staff at the Catholic institution repeatedly blocked Walsh’s presence on campus.
A Catholic, Walsh attempted to speak to the protesters who had blocked the intersection, but video of the scene shows the crowd screaming and chanting louder as he approached them.
On Twitter, Walsh said the scene was “no way to treat a children’s author.” The conservative personality recently published a children’s book titled Johnny the Walrus, telling the story of a young boy convinced he is a walrus who tries to become one.

The book is viewed as a social commentary on the increasing availability of cross-sex hormones for children who identify as transgender.
In a statement to the Washington Examiner, Kara Zupkus, spokeswoman for Young America’s Foundation, said Walsh’s event at SLU “proved that the Left's grip on higher education is a net negative for all involved.”

“YAF is at the forefront of the fight for free speech on campuses,” Zupkus said. “And we will continue bringing conservative ideas to pivotal schools across the nation — encouraging healthy debate and a robust discussion of ideas that will shape the future of our country.”
