A professor at the University of Central Florida is hosting a podcast on sex backed by over $30,000 in grant funding to the institution.

The "Sex Cafe Podcast" hosted by Humberto Lopez Castillo, an assistant professor in the University of Central Florida's Department of Health Sciences, is financed by a $32,000 portion of a $300,000 grant to the university from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation.

"The Sex Cafe Podcast presents research, clinical practice, and community resources to improve sexual and reproductive health and wellness in Central Florida and beyond," the podcast's description reads.

In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Lopez Castillo said he and his colleagues started the podcast as part of his research and that he had been fascinated by "sexual reproductive health" ever since he was in medical school training to be a pediatrician.

"Sex is like buying pizza. It’s a negotiation process that requires communication skills. So that we can talk about what I like, what I don’t like, what I am able to commit, if I feel adventurous and want to try something new, or if I want to stick to the usual,” the professor told the outlet.

The podcast, which launched last month, releases a new episode every week and has so far covered topics such as race and sexuality, sex and religion, and "age as it relates to sexual awakenings." Guests have included the co-president of Planned Parenthood Generation Action at UCF and various UCF health professors.
