President Trump said Saturday that if Democrats would work with Republicans to get new immigration laws passed, it would get through in less than an hour.

“If the Democrats would stop being obstructionists and come together, we could write up and agree to new immigration laws in less than one hour,” Trump posted to Twitter Saturday. “Look at the needless pain and suffering that they are causing. Look at the horrors taking place on the Border. Chuck & Nancy, call me!”

Immigration and border security is one of the policy issues Trump is most vocal about, and something he thinks will be hijacked by the Democrats if they take back a majority in Congress after the midterm elections.

Trump called on Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, N.Y., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Calif., to call him up to work out new immigration policy.

Immigration has also been a hot-button issue in light of the 4,000-person caravan making its way to the U.S.-Mexican border from Honduras.

The U.S. and Mexico came to an agreement this week where they requested the U.N. set up shelters along the Guatemalan-Mexican border to house migrants as they are vetted.
