District police are looking for a man they believe has information about a 2007 homicide of a Cuban immigrant in Northwest Washington. Ignacio Cordova was found stabbed to death inside his unit at the Woodner Apartments on Feb. 19, 2007. Police had been called to investigate the site because of a foul odor. Cordova could have been dead up to four days, police say.

Investigators believe a man who goes by Chepe, Chepito or Juan Jose might have information in connection to the slaying. He often hangs out at the intersection of Ninth and Taylor Streets NW and is believed to work in the auto repair industry. The man police want to question is Hispanic, in his late 30s, 5 foot 9 and 190 to 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police do not know the motivation for the slaying. They said it could have been a robbery, hate crime or the result of an altercation.

Police have investigated many leads, but the slaying remains a cold case.

Cordova was a quiet man who had friends but often kept to himself, police say. He came to the United States from Cuba to flee the Castro regime. Police say he had one brother, who has spoken with police since the death.

"I try to be optimistic about every case," lead detective Doug Carlson told The Washington Examiner. "I feel good about this case."

If you have any information on the case, call Carlson at 202-645-6360, Detective Paul Regan at 202-645-0472, or the Metropolitan Police Department's Synchronized Operations Command Center at 202-727-9099. There is a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
