UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George's County police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old honor student in her bedroom by an intruder.
Police say they have no suspects or motive in the slaying of Amber Stanley. Police say a man broke into Stanley's Upper Marlboro-area home Wednesday night, went to her upstairs bedroom and shot her several times. Stanley died at the scene. Several other people were inside the house at the time, and no one else was hurt.
School officials say Stanley was a rising senior at Charles H. Flowers High School in Springdale, where she was enrolled in an elite science and technology program. Principal Gorman Brown says the girl was well-liked and had a promising future.
