A 25-year-old man was arrested after he pretended to shoot at people inside a movie theater, Anne Arundel County police said.
Kyle Nolan Tanner was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.
The Tuesday incident comes less than two weeks after a gunmen shot and killed 12 people and wounded 58 at a theater in Colorado, and an area man threatened a copycat attack.
According to police, Tanner walked into a showing of "Madagascar 3" at the Bow Tie Cinemas at Annapolis Harbour Center on Tuesday afternoon. He began yelling expletives toward the screen and at patrons, left the theater twice and returned a final time and began simulating shooting a gun while cursing at the people.
Patrons fled, and police quickly arrested Tanner.
