A Suitland man became Prince George’s County’s 14th homicide victim of the year early Wednesday morning, ending a string of seven days of no murders in the county.

Police spokesman Cpl. Evan Baxter said police responded to a report of shots fired at the 3500 block of Terrace Drive in Suitland at about 2:40 a.m. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Baxter said police have not released the name of the victim.

On Tuesday, officials in Prince George’s County held a press conference to ask for the community’s help in stopping the string of homicides.

Before Wednesday, the last victim was an intruder who was shot and killed Jan. 11 in New Carrollton by a resident in the home. No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
