Prince George's County police say they've reduced the number of this year's homicides by one after they determined that one of the killings might have been justified.
"We changed it mid-afternoon [Wednesday]," said Cpl. Evan Baxter. "We're back down to 12."
Police said Clyde Antwone Rosevelt Howard, 30, of New Carrollton was shot while breaking into a residence in his neighborhood in the 7400 block of Riverdale Road on Tuesday evening. Howard was pronounced dead on the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had broken out a window in the front door of the residence and was attempting to gain entry when he was shot by a resident of the home, police said.
