A person was transported from the Shaw Metrorail station Wednesday morning with what may or may not have been a stab wound.

Emergency crews were called to the Yellow and Green Line station around 11:15 a.m. with reports of a stabbing inside the station. They transported one person to a local hospital with non-serious injuries, said DC Fire & EMS spokesman Pete Piringer.

Metro spokeswoman Taryn McNeil said the man told the transit agency that the wound was self-inflicted and did not want to press any charges. No one was taken into custody, she said.

The incident did not affect service at the station despite occurring on the platform, she said.
