Discussions between Northern Virginia officials and the Pentagon over proposed security changes at the Pentagon Metro station are moving in a “positive” direction, said Cathy Hudgins, chairwoman of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission.

A meeting between the two groups is planned for later this week.

Pentagon officials announced two weeks ago plans to change the configuration of the security checkpoints near the Pentagon Metro Station, a move that could disrupt Metro commuter foot traffic and block disabled passengers from using Metro elevators.

“We’re going to put all our issues on the table, their going to put theirs on the table, and we’re going to work through it,” Hudgins said, adding, “It’s been a positive experience so far.”

The NVTC sit-down with the Pentagon is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
