Alexandria police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Friday.

Police said 26-year-old Melbourne C. Leach Jr., of Alexandria, was struck near King Street and Park Center Drive at about 12:10 a.m. He later died at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A witness described the striking vehicle as a four-door black sedan.
