TAMPA, Fla. -- The Republican Party platform might be against gay marriage, but plenty of Republicans have nothing against going to gay parties. Homocon, the bash being put on by GOProud, a gay conservative group, has emerged as one of the more anticipated parties of the Republican National Convention.

GOProud cofounder and Executive Director Jimmy LaSalvia shrugs off the platform. "The platform is a piece of paper that carries no weight of law," he told Yeas & Nays. He called the party's social conservatives who insist on making opposition to same-sex marriage a party principle a "very, very, very small group."

LaSalvia says more than 1,000 are expected at Homocon in Ybor City Tuesday night. Guests will leave with disco ball keychains.
