The Biden administration will not stop overstating the risk of COVID-19 to children while justifying the ridiculous restrictions being placed on them across the country.

The latest two offenders are Dr. Anthony Fauci and White House press secretary Jen Psaki. Appearing on ABC, Fauci urged parents to get their children vaccinated. That’s all well and good, but he went on to cite the hospitalization and death numbers for children as if they are numbers of great concern that justify the status quo. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to recommend “universal indoor masking” for children in schools, Fauci is downplaying how safe children have been since the start of the pandemic.

Again, the flu is more dangerous for children than COVID-19. According to CDC data, there have been 5,034 hospitalizations for children in the now 22 months that COVID-19 has been in the United States. There have been 644 COVID-19 deaths among children. Meanwhile, the CDC estimated that the 2019-20 flu season resulted in more than 52,000 hospitalizations and 434 deaths. That was over a span of just seven months.

Meanwhile, reports that some schools are forcing children to eat lunch outside, on the ground, in complete silence do not bother Psaki. After all, it doesn’t bother her 3-year-old, and these are “steps that schools are taking to keep kids safe.” These are just “creative steps,” you see.

It’s all nonsense. The Biden administration is continuing to impose a burden on children with no scientific justification. The flu is worse for children than COVID-19, according to the now-22 months of data we have. The message coming from the administration should be that schools should return to normal completely, with no restrictions for children.

But the administration wants to keep COVID-19 in the news as much as possible to continue pushing spending bills. So, you end up with places like New York City, where children are now banned from playing sports or going to restaurants if they are not vaccinated despite the fact that unvaccinated children are at less risk from the virus than vaccinated adults.

Children should not be political props to show how worried you are about COVID-19. All available evidence shows that they should be able to return to normal life regardless of vaccination status, and this has been apparent since the summer of 2020. Anyone peddling any other message, as Fauci and Psaki are, are not following “science” and do not want life to return to normal.
