In a year in which Philadelphia continues to suffer record homicides, the city’s district attorney declared there was not any crisis of crime in the city. As of this moment, Philadelphia has had 523 murders this year. The previous record was 500, set over 30 years ago in 1990. The overwhelming majority of the victims of these 523 homicides have been nonwhite Philadelphians. For DA Larry Krasner to make such a claim shows a profound lack of empathy to all those whose families lost loved ones in 2021.

“Basically, we don’t have a crisis of lawlessness, we don’t have a crisis of crime, we don’t have a crisis of violence, and that is a category that includes gun violence,” he said.

A city cannot have its worst year on record for homicides, a 12% increase from the year before, and there not be a crisis of crime. There clearly is one. The Soros-backed DA does not want to admit it. And given that many of his policies have directly contributed to this ghastly rise in murders, it’s not a surprise Krasner is in denial.

Philadelphia is only 42.1% black. Yet over 80% of all its murder victims are black. Krasner’s policies and actions have frequently led to criminals being on the street that should have been behind bars. However, not only does Krasner not accept responsibility for this chaos, he refuses to even acknowledge there is anything wrong.

Krasner championed himself as a protector of black lives, yet he has done irreparable harm to them in Philadelphia. Under the guise of racial equity, liberal politicians have carelessly sacrificed the lives of thousands of innocent people. If Krasner cared at all about the people he claims to want to protect, he would acknowledge the failures of his policies and look for viable solutions. Instead, he plans to sit comfortably away from the plague of violence he created and watch black bodies keep piling up on the streets of Philadelphia.
