Look out, America. Here comes Louis Oosthuizen. After winning on the European Tour on Sunday and doing it in his home country of South Africa, Oosthuizen is headed for the PGA Tour.
"I'm looking forward to the whole year, playing half in America and half in Europe," Oosthuizen, 28, told reporters. "I'm looking forward to contending on both money lists."
That may sound like an ambitious goal for a player who had gone 0-for-175 before he won for the first time on the European Tour last year. Less than four months later, he made his stunning major breakthrough at the British Open, where he lapped the field by seven strokes.
Recent results, however, show Oosthuizen is ready.
Sunday's victory in the Africa Open came in a three-man playoff as he birdied the first playoff hole with a 12-foot birdie putt to deny Chris Wood of England and Manuel Quiros of Spain.
