Over at Old Dominion Watchdog, Paige Winfield Cunningham takes a creative angle on the BP oil spill’s impact on Virginia.
In March, the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) held 8.5 million shares of BP stock worth $82 million, but by May 31, that value had dropped to $61 million, she reported.
But BP stocks make up only a tiny portion of total VRS assets, so officials won’t be making any quick moves due to the disaster, according to VRS public relations director Jeanne Chenault.
