The official behind the FDA's efforts to ban alcohol-infused drinks such as Four Loko is joining the O'Malley administration, according to the Congressional Quarterly.
Josh Sharfstein, currently second-in-command at the Food and Drug Administration, will lead the Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, CQ's John Reichard reports.
Gov. Martin O'Malley's office won't confirm the appointment, but issued a notably vague announcement to reporters at 11 a.m. Tuesday for a Wednesday press conference "regarding" the state's health department.
