Two pit bulls were shot Thursday night in Germantown as Montgomery and Baltimore County police pursued a suspect.
Montgomery County police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said officers tried to stop the suspect's vehicle near Steeple Road and Highstream Drive at about 7:15 p.m.
The male driver and the female passenger — who was wanted on a felony charge in Baltimore — fled from the vehicle. The woman pounded on the door of a residence, and two pit bulls ran outside, Baur said.
She said the dogs were aggressive and charged at the officers. Montgomery and Baltimore County officers shot at the dogs, which were wounded but not killed. The pit bulls' owner took them to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
The female suspect was taken into custody. Drugs were found inside the vehicle, Baur said, and the man was taken into custody on a drug charge. She did not have the suspects' names or the charges they face.
