BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say an officer has shot a man who allegedly escaped from custody at a courthouse and tried to run down the officer with a car.

Officer say about 11 a.m. Monday, the man was in the Borgerding District Court Building when an officer detained him on a traffic warrant.

The Baltimore Sun (http://bsun.md/NXTqGR) reports the man was placed in handcuffs, but asked to use the bathroom, when the handcuffs were removed.

Officers say the man ran out of the courthouse, into the parking lot and into a car.

Police say the man drove the vehicle at an officer, who fired three shots. The man was hit in the arm, but drove away. He was found three miles away and taken to a hospital.
