The day after his birthday bash at the White House, President Obama took off on Saturday for a 16-day vacation in Martha's Vineyard, where — if past is precedent — many rounds of golf are in store.
The first family, including the president, first lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Sasha and Malia, headed for Joint Base Andrews on Marine One around 12:30, according to a White House pool report. Senior advisor Valerie Jarrett and Chynna Clayton, the first lady's special assistant, also made the trip to Andrews with the family. Air Force One took off from there for Cape Cod around 1 p.m.
Prior to the first family's arrival at Andrews, Bo and Sunny were getting their final pre-flight walk, a pool report said.
Sasha, Obama's youngest daughter, has spent part of her summer in Martha's Vineyard already, working at the takeout window of Nancy's, a popular seafood joint.
The Obamas vacation every August on Martha's Vineyard. They are scheduled to return to Washington August 21.
