President Obama on Tuesday will meet with the family of Alton Sterling, who was shot to death during a clash with police in early July, as well as the families of the Louisiana law enforcement officers killed in weeks after Sterling's death.
The White House announced the visit with Sterling and the families of deceased and injured officers while Obama was touring the flood-damaged areas of the state Tuesday afternoon.
Obama has faced criticism for delaying a trip to Louisiana to see the disaster area while he finished his two-week vacation on Martha's Vineyard. Louisiana media have also complained that he did not come to the city after Sterling's shooting and the killing of police officers amid angry demonstrations over Sterling's death.
