President Obama will head to the Pentagon Monday to receive an update on operations against the Islamic State, Navy Times reported Sunday night.

At the Pentagon the president is expected to make remarks to the press on the ongoing airstrikes and operations against the terror group, one day before Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Obama recently authorized an additional 450 troops to deploy to Iraq to increase the number of Sunni tribal members who receive training and arms to fight the Islamic State, bringing the total number of U.S. forces authorized for this expanding fight against the Islamic State to 3,550.
