A 23-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after she ran topless through a crowd during a rally featuring Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., according to University of South Florida police.

Victoria Royal took her shirt off and ran through the crowd at the University of South Florida Campus Recreation Center at about 4:45 p.m., police said. About 700 people gathered to hear Sanders rally for Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and other candidates on the Democratic ticket, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Royal ignored demands to put her clothes back on and was eventually restrained and taken away by police. Royal had writing all over her body, but it is unclear what the messages conveyed. Royal's motivation for the streaking is unknown.

Royal was arrested on misdemeanor charges of exposure of sexual organs and resisting an officer without violence.

The incident comes less than a week before the midterm elections, which take place on Nov. 6.
