President Trump said Friday that he will put a section of newly constructed border wall in the Oval Office after receiving it mounted as a trophy.

"It will be in the Oval Office," Trump told members of the Border Patrol during a roundtable event in Calexico, Calif., as he prepared to tour nearby Mexican border barriers.

Trump was presented the slice of wall by Gloria Chavez, the Border Patrol's chief patrol agent of the El Centro sector.

Chavez said the spear-shaped piece of metal was taken from a section of new 30-foot-tall metal wall. It was covered with a plaque declaring Border Patrol "the tip of the spear."

Chavez said patrol agents wanted to give Trump "a nice memento in appreciation of all the support you have given us."

"We went ahead and secured a piece of the new border wall that is out here in the El Centro Sector," Chavez said, presenting Trump with the metal section mounted on a piece of wood.

The plaque covering the metal slice says: "Mr. President, the agents and employees of the U.S. Border Patrol, El Centro sector, are the tip of the spear, proudly defending America's borders. In recognition of your commitment and unwavering support for the men and women on the front lines and the border security mission of the United States, we would like to present you with this piece of the first 30-foot border wall installed along the United States border with Mexico."
