Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) took aim at comedian Trevor Noah on Monday for claiming DeSantis was at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday, saying he "would never attend that."
During his headline act on Saturday night at the Washington Hilton in the nation's capital, Noah cracked a couple of jokes at DeSantis's expense but indicated that the Florida governor was in attendance, although television cameras never cut away from Noah to show DeSantis in the crowd.

“One of my favorites, Ron DeSantis is here. Oh man, I’m actually surprised that he found the time,” Noah said. “You know, he has been so busy trying to outmaneuver [former President Donald] Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player.”
On Monday, DeSantis said he was not there and actually rejected an invitation to attend. Christina Pushaw, DeSantis's press secretary, told the Washington Examiner he never planned on attending the event and was in Florida attending a private event the night of the dinner.
“Why they would want to perpetuate a lie about that, I don’t know,” DeSantis said. “But I think it just shows you why that cabal of people in D.C., N.Y., is so reviled by so many Americans. I think it’s a reputation that’s been well-deserved.”
DeSantis was invited to attend the dinner by both USA Today on Feb. 25 and Newsmax on March 16, with DeSantis declining both invitations on March 31, according to emails Pushaw forwarded to the Washington Examiner.
During the event, the Daily Show host also called DeSantis an upgraded version of Trump.
“Trump was the original Terminator, DeSantis is like the T-1000,” Noah said. “You’re smarter than him, you’re slicker than him, you can walk down ramps. Because you see, no, Trump said he won the election, but everyone was just able to look at the numbers and see he was wrong. That’s why Ron DeSantis is one step ahead — first you ban the math textbooks, then nobody knows how to count the votes. Boom, my man!”
