A couple in Georgia said they were abandoned by their Uber driver on the side of the road after an argument surrounding their vaccination status.

The Atlanta couple was maskless in the Uber at around 3 a.m. when their driver expressed he had just received his booster shot and questioned what their status was, according to a Wednesday report.

After the couple confessed they were not vaccinated, they claimed the driver became enraged and forced them out of the car and onto the side of the highway.

Haley, a member of the couple, said she and her partner use Uber several times a week and that they were aware of the company's mask policy.

"I said, 'Hey, sir, we don't have masks, is that OK?' And he's like, 'Come on, come on in,'" she said.

However, the driver's attitude changed rapidly when her partner told the driver their vaccination status, Haley said.

"Uber doesn't have a vaccination policy. It has a mask policy," she said. "I was scared. He was driving fast, on his iPad Googling, trying to prove a point."

Eventually, the driver kicked the couple out in the early morning rain, according to Haley.

"He pulled over on 75 north, a four- or five-lane highway, the emergency lane, and told us to get the F out. Started cursing. And, of course, we get out. We were scared," she said.

"It could have went a lot worse if we got hit, a car slid into us, if we got picked up, kidnapped," she continued. "There's a lot of things that could have happened."

Uber called the incident "concerning," according to a statement from the company.

"The rider's experience is very concerning. In accordance with our Community Guidelines, we expect all users to treat each other with respect. We've been in touch with her and will continue to look into this report," the company said.
