Bill Maher blasted the idea of student loan forgiveness, calling it a “loser issue.”
During Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday, the HBO host said Democrats should focus more on building up employment opportunities without the need for years spent incurring college debt.
“The Democrats have this idea that you are a better person if you sit in class more and more and get more and more degrees,” Maher said. “And really the answer is not to make college cheaper. It’s to make it more unnecessary because most of it is bulls*** anyway.”

Maher called the Democrats’ touting of eliminating student loans a losing effort in “trying to win back the working class.”
“We who didn’t go to college and didn’t benefit from that are gonna subsidize you to get your degree in gender studies and sports marketing and all the other bulls***,” Maher said. "I think it’s a loser issue."
MUSK PUTS TWITTER EMPLOYEES ON ALERT: ‘WORK ETHIC EXPECTATIONS WOULD BE EXTREME’
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has been one of the most outspoken supporters of student loan forgiveness. Most recently, she called for President Joe Biden to take action, tweeting Friday that canceling student debt would bring economic benefits and “narrow the racial wealth gap among borrowers.”
Cancelling student debt would provide millions of Americans with relief, and the more we cancel, the more we narrow the racial wealth gap among borrowers and the bigger the boost to Americans’ economic futures. @POTUS can do it with the stroke of a pen.https://t.co/6Qe4YXMU9A

Former Bill Clinton presidential campaign strategist Paul Begala mocked Warren and fellow Democrats, saying: “We Democrats have a lab, two labs actually, secret labs — one in Berkeley and one in Brooklyn, where we come up with ideas to completely piss off the working class, and it’s working wonderfully."
Begala suggested that those who want student loan forgiveness serve the country in some way.

“[What] I’d much rather see Democrats do is go back to their roots, which is earn it," Begala said. “Why don’t we have a system where we say, 'You want to get out of your college debt? Serve your country — Marine Corps, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps.' Not everybody can carry a rifle, but you can mentor a kid, and you should give two years of service.”
