A Twitter poll designed to “prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are” appeared to backfire when more than 81% of respondents said they trust Tesla CEO Elon Musk over Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

The poll came in response to a tweet posted by Musk on Thursday in which he asked his 95.6 million followers whether they trust politicians or billionaires less.

After nearly 3.4 million responses noting they trust politicians less, Musk challenged Ocasio-Cortez to do her own poll for comparison.

Ocasio-Cortez has not responded to Musk, but Army veteran David Weissman, an opinion writer for Occupy Democrats and self-proclaimed “former Trump supporter, and proud Liberal Dem,” took notice and created his own Twitter poll.

“Let’s prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are by doing one of our own. Who do you trust more @elonmusk @AOC,” Weissman tweeted.

Around five hours later, Weissman responded to his poll showing people favor Musk over Ocasio-Cortez: “Not sure how this poll flipped but I won’t delete it and will take the L.”
