A Minnesota television reporter who wore a “Make America Great Again” hat to President Trump’s rally on Thursday has been fired.

James Bunner wore Trump’s signature red hat to the Rochester rally he was covering for his employer, KTTC-TV.

A photo of Brunner at the rally shows him standing next to a video camera wearing the hat with a matching red coat emblazoned with the logo of the news station.

The station’s news director, Noel Sederstrom, told the Associated Press that the news organization does not allow its journalists to cover stories while wearing insignia that promotes any political campaign. As a result, Bunner was fired Friday, Sederstrom said.

Many news organizations prohibit reporters from openly sharing their political views or supporting political candidates, especially when those reporters are covering politics and policy.
