President Trump has met with State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert regarding outgoing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s position, a new report says.
Nauert, a former Fox News host and who is now a State Department spokesperson and acting under secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, talked with Trump on Monday, sources familiar with the situation told Bloomberg News.
It was reported earlier this month that Nauert was a potential candidate to replace Haley, and that White House staffers view her as a qualified defender and supporter of the Trump administration’s foreign policy.

Nauert did not respond to requests for comment from Bloomberg.
Another potential candidate, Trump’s ambassador to France, Jamie McCourt, was in contact with Trump about the United Nations ambassador position last week.
Haley announced earlier this month that she was stepping down from her post and would officially leave by the end of the year, and Trump said that Haley would help him select her successor.
