Trevor Noah filed a lawsuit against the Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Riley Williams III for negligence regarding a November 2020 orthopedic surgery Noah underwent.
The 37-year-old host of the Daily Show said the New York City-based hospital and doctor were "careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner," according to court documents.
The operation took place on Nov. 23, 2020, and Noah claims the medical staff failed to "prescribe proper medications," failed to "discontinue certain prescription medications," and failed to perform the proper testing to "diagnose the conditions."

The host endured "serious personal injury," which documents describe as "permanent, severe and grievous."
He is "rendered sick, sore, lame, and disabled" and has "suffered a loss of enjoyment for life."
The exact operation the South African comedian underwent is unknown, but Williams "specializes in knee, shoulder and elbow" surgery.
The Hospital of Special Surgery categorically denied Noah's allegations.
