It took more than 100 years, but the Titanic has been reborn and will again attempt to sail across the Atlantic Ocean.
A replica of the massive passenger ship — dubbed the Titanic II — is set to make its first voyage in 2022, according to multiple reports.
Titanic II will sail from Southampton, England to New York and follow the same route as the original, which infamously sunk after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean more than a century ago.
Plans to create “The Titanic II” were first announced in 2012, to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the first ship’s infamous sinking.
Commissioned by Blue Star Line, the $500 million ship will be able to 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members according to Bloomberg. After its maiden voyage, the company plans to offer worldwide cruises on the ship.
More than 1,500 people died when the original ship sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in Spring 1912.
