Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is encouraging Hillary Clinton to fight President Trump for the White House in 2020.

Bannon said the former secretary of state was already making it clear she considered herself a candidate and she should make a run because “she can take a punch.”

“She’s a lion in winter,” Bannon told Politico. “Not only is she running, she should run. In the Democratic Party, the question is can anybody throw a punch or take a punch, and one thing we know about Hillary Clinton is she can take a punch.”

The former executive chairman of Breitbart News suggested Trump respected her more than the rest of the Democratic field. “I think Trump considers her a real rival,” he said, “whereas his view of the rest of the field is they’ve got to prove themselves.”

Many Democratic candidates in the midterm elections believe Clinton’s presence hurts the. One senior Democratic strategist described her as "the kiss of death."

After the elections, Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will launch a 13-city tour in November named “An evening with President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.”
