A sheriff's deputy in South Carolina shot and killed a suspect on Sunday following a standoff.

Deputies of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic dispute in Simpsonville and determined the suspect had left the location, according to a press release.


The suspect was considered armed and dangerous, and police said they called the SWAT team.

A search for the suspect ensued, and officers came face-to-face with 38-year-old Matthew Snyder, according to the release. Any negotiation between the deputies and Snyder ended when both parties opened fire around 11 p.m.

Snyder was shot and died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.

He had received multiple gunshot wounds, according to Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans.
