Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter on Wednesday to explain why he'll never vote for the Democrats again, as they are a "party of division & hate."

"In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican," he wrote. "Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold."

This comes after a Monday podcast appearance in which Musk told listeners he would be voting Republican going forward.

"I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats historically, overwhelmingly. Like, I'm not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear," Musk said. "Now, this election, I will."

Musk also expressed his annoyance on Twitter at Tesla being removed from the S&P 500 ESG index, a list of companies that S&P Global considers to make "meaningful and measurable sustainability-focused enhancements.”

"Exxon is rated top ten best in world for environment, social & governance (ESG) by S&P 500, while Tesla didn’t make the list! ESG is a scam. It has been weaponized by phony social justice warriors," Musk tweeted.

According to a post from the company, Tesla was ineligible for a number of reasons. One reason cited is the automobile company specializing in electric vehicles does not have a "low carbon strategy." Notably, electric cars produce significantly fewer emissions than traditional combustion engine vehicles.

It further explained that "claims of racial discrimination and poor working conditions" at a Tesla facility influenced the score. The company "has fallen behind its peers when examined through a wider ESG lens," according to the post.

Berkshire Hathaway, Johnson & Johnson, and Meta were also excluded.
