Actor and producer Roseanne Barr said Monday in a tweet that former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.”
“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr tweeted, in response to another user’s claim that suggested Jarrett helped former President Barack Obama hide secrets.

While Obama was in office, there were rumors that Jarrett secretly intended to promote Islam in the U.S. However, Jarrett, who is black, has no ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a Sunni Muslim organization.
The original tweet Barr was responding to had nothing to do with Jarrett and was instead about the Obama CIA spying on the French president.

Barr apologized Tuesday on Twitter, saying that she made a “bad joke” regarding Jarrett’s politics and appearance.
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” Roseanne posted to Twitter Tuesday morning. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
