Republican lawmakers took to Twitter on Thursday to show support for Rep. Ruben Gallego after a Russian lawmaker threatened the Arizona Democrat on television.

The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday that during an appearance on state television, State Duma member and chairman of Russia’s nationalist Rodina party Aleksei Zhuravlyov called for the abduction and imprisonment of Gallego over his comments on tension between Ukraine and Russia.

Gallego recently called on the Biden administration to deter Russian aggression against Ukraine through sanctioning Russia and arming Ukraine.

Zhuravlyov said Gallego should be abducted and brought to Russia for imprisonment.

“We should be looking for that bud, and if he travels anywhere, grab him like Bout and bring him over here,” he said.

Gallego, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, offered a succinct response to the threat on Twitter.

Gallego’s fellow veteran Republican Rep. Mike Waltz replied, “I have your six,” a sentiment echoed by GOP Rep. Peter Meijer of Michigan.

Another congressional veteran, Republican Rep. Don Young of Alaska, took things a step further.

“I heard the Russians are trying to come after my buddy [Gallego],” Young wrote. “Don't worry Ruben, I'm the only Member of Congress with the skills, training, and experience to bring a knife to a gun fight.”
