A man will spend nearly three years in jail for threatening to kill a Democratic senator.
Proud Boys member Eduard Florea was sentenced to 33 months in prison on Thursday after being convicted of threatening Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock. Florea pleaded guilty to the charges in August.
"With today's sentence, the defendant faces serious consequences for threatening the life of United States Senator Raphael Warnock as part of his effort to foment violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in connection with attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election," said U.S. Attorney Breon Peace in a statement.

Florea, 41, had posted several threatening statements about killing elected officials, including Warnock, as well as other threats of violence driven by a desire to change the results of the 2020 election, according to the Justice Department.
On Jan. 5, Florea posted at 8:40 p.m., "We need to all come to an agreement ... and go armed ... and really take back Washington," and minutes later, Florea posted, "Tomorrow may very [well] be the day war kicks off," the Justice Department said. A few hours later, Florea posted, "Warnock is going to have a hard time casting votes for communist policies when he's swinging with the f***ing fish," the statement continued.
On Jan. 6, Florea posted several messages implying the intent to travel into Washington, D.C., with other men while armed with firearms during the Jan. 6 riot, the Justice Department said. Florea was not among the crowd that entered the Capitol, according to officials.
