A police officer shot three children and a 21-year-old suspected of robbing a Pizza Hut on Friday, authorities in Oklahoma said.

William Devaughn Smith, suspected of perpetrating an April 11 stick-up, was treated for injuries and arrested after the incident near the Texas-Oklahoma border.

The children and Smith reportedly were in a truck when the officer opened fire. A fourth child and Smith's wife were uninjured, according to reports.

Key details about the incident have not been shared with the public, including whether Smith had a gun, or if he shot at police. The ages and conditions of the children also are unknown.

The officer who shot the children has not been named. He was a member of the Hugo Police Department, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Brook Arbeitman told the Associated Press.

ABC News reports that Smith allegedly robbed the Pizza Hut earlier this month by pressing an object against an employee's back and demanding money. The crime was captured on security camera footage.
