In a sign of growing hostility within the House GOP conference, Rep. Nancy Mace fired back on Twitter after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at the South Carolina Republican for her condemnation of recent anti-Muslim comments by another GOP lawmaker, Rep. Lauren Boebert.

Greene took aim at Mace after the South Carolina Republican strongly criticized Boebert over a video in which the Colorado Republican claimed she was in a Capitol Hill elevator with Rep. Ilhan Omar and suggested a Capitol Police officer appeared concerned the Minnesota Democrat might be a terrorist, making a comment about Omar not wearing a backpack in what seemed to be a reference to suicide bombings.

Mace fired back against Greene’s tweet on Tuesday in the latest feud between the two freshmen lawmakers. She trolled Greene by copying verbatim a recent tweet from the Georgia Republican.

'TRASH': MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE BLASTS NANCY MACE OVER LAUREN BOEBERT CRITICISM

Greene said last week that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy lacked the votes to become House speaker if Republicans win control of the chamber after the midterm elections. Shortly after, Green wrote on Twitter that she had a “good call” with McCarthy.

After Greene took aim at her on Twitter, Mace appeared to mock Greene by writing:

Mace’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the tweet.

Mace also pointed out a spelling error in Greene’s original tweet, which the Georgia Republican dismissed in two other tweets.

Greene's claim that Mace supports abortion is unfounded. The anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List says on its legislative scorecard for Mace that she has “voted consistently to defend the lives of the unborn and infants.” Mace, who has said she was raped in high school, does support some exceptions for victims of rape and incest in anti-abortion legislation. But support for such exceptions is common even among anti-abortion conservatives, though not universal.

The social media dust-up is just one element of the divisions and drama within the House GOP conference. House Democrats have called on McCarthy to hold Boebert accountable for her comments, just after they voted to censure Rep. Paul Gosar for tweeting an edited video depicting him as an anime character attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and President Joe Biden.
