Former Vice President Joe Biden has publicly joined the camp of Democrats who don't believe they should impeach President Trump if they flip the House after the 2018 midterm elections.
"I hope they don't. I don't think there's a basis for doing that right now," Biden told "CBS This Morning" in an interview set to air in full Thursday.
"I think we should focus on all the terrible things that are happening now in terms of interest of the middle class people and working class people," he said. "There are so many things to attend to immediately. Let's see where the investigation takes us."
Biden was touted last Sunday as the front-runner among possible Democratic 2020 presidential candidates, according to a poll conducted by CNN and SSRS among 464 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents in October.
The longtime senator-turned-Obama administration official last week sought to downplay speculation he was considering running "at this point." He has also said he would revisit the topic after the November's midterm cycle.
