CNBC host Jim Cramer said on social media Wednesday that the government has the "right to force you to obey," which prompted swift pushback from conservatives.

"Government has a right to force you to obey and has always exercised it especially under GOP," Cramer tweeted.

Cramer was met by swift backlash on Twitter, with many criticizing his use of the word "right" when referring to the government's ability to subjugate citizens.

"Progressivism in a nutshell," commented author Chad Felix Greene.

"Actually, we have the right to DISOBEY authoritarian government and we will exercise it," Ohio Republican congressional candidate Jonah Schulz wrote.

"I missed the 'right to force you to obey' in the Constitution but go off," wrote Washington Examiner magazine contributor Karol Markowicz.

Cramer has a history of expressing similar sentiments. In November, the host suggested that the military be used to enforce a nationwide vaccine requirement.

"Back then, anyone who refused to get vaccinated would get ratted out immediately, because we knew that person could hurt other people," Cramer said on his show Mad Money. "Require vaccination universally, have the military run it. If you don't want to get vaccinated, you better be ready to prove your conscientious objector status in court."
