Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota said on Sunday she is "very confident" House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will hold a vote to strip Rep. Lauren Boebert of her committee assignments next week.

Omar said Boebert should be punished and sanctioned for a leaked clip in which Boebert delivered comments insulting Omar's religion. She said Pelosi made a promise to her that she will take care of the situation between her and Boebert, with Omar saying she believes her promise will be kept, according to Fox News.

"We should punish and sanction Boebert by stripping her of her committees, by rebuking her language," Omar said. "By doing everything that we can to send a clear and decisive message to the American public that if the Republicans are not going to be adults and condemn this, that we are going to do that."

Boebert came under fire for a story she told about Omar while speaking at a campaign event on Nov. 25, where she suggested the Minnesota Democrat may have been seen as a security risk by Capitol Police. When she and Omar rode the elevator together, Boebert told herself, "Well, she doesn't have a backpack. We should be fine."

Pelosi told Democratic lawmakers in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday that Boebert's comments were “indecent” and “dangerous.” Not mentioning Boebert by name, Pelosi told the lawmakers “these people do not respect the House that they serve in.”

Boebert said in a video she first reached out to Omar on Nov. 26 following widespread outrage over her comments. Omar allegedly kept asking for a public apology from Boebert, with Boebert allegedly saying she should make a public apology "for her anti-American, antisemitic, anti-police rhetoric." The two allegedly kept arguing before Omar hung up.

Omar released a statement shortly after Boebert's video was released. She appeared to acknowledge hanging up on Boebert but had a different account of events, saying she "refused to publicly acknowledge her hurtful and dangerous comments."
