Voters are going to turn against the party in power, which happens to be the Democrats, said Gurdon. President Joe Biden will not be able to escape being implicated.

He also addressed the Tuesday GOP Senate primary election playing out in Pennsylvania. The race features three candidates with a reasonable shot at taking the nomination.

The candidates are all fairly similar, Gurdon explained. One thing that separates them is that some people get the impression that Dr. Mehmet Oz and David McCormick may be putting on a show to appear more "MAGA," whereas Kathy Barnette may come off more genuine in her support of the former president.

"They're all going to be fairly Trumpy," he said.

Barnette's meteoric rise has become a "real concern" in the Pennsylvania GOP and on Capitol Hill with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Gurdon added.
