House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed plans for events to mark the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
A letter to Democratic colleagues, which was shared with the media on Monday, asked members to report whether they will be in Washington on Jan. 6, as the House will not be in session that week, to help planners fully prepare for "this solemn observance."

"Already, preparations are underway for a full program of events, including a discussion among historians about the narrative of that day; an opportunity for Members to share their experiences and reflections from that day; and a prayerful vigil in the evening," Pelosi said.
"All events will be live-streamed, so that Members can watch and participate from their districts. As always, we will continue to work with the House Historian to establish and preserve our records in this regard," she added.
The White House is also reportedly planning to commemorate the Jan. 6 riot.
A House select committee, which has two Republican members, is looking into the circumstances that surrounded Jan. 6, the day hundreds of people stormed the U.S. Capitol complex, disrupting lawmakers as they certified President Joe Biden's 2020 win.
So far, dozens of people have been subpoenaed, and members say hundreds more have cooperated with the inquiry. Meanwhile, more than 700 people have been arrested and charged with crimes associated with the siege of Congress.
