BIDEN TESTS NEGATIVE FOR COVID-19 AFTER EXPOSURE AT WHITE HOUSE

"America is in a new phase of this pandemic. No one is immune," he said in a tweet. "I urge anyone who has not done so to protect themselves by getting vaccinated and boosted."

Clyburn, who serves as the majority whip in the House, is one of several prominent U.S. politicians to test positive in a breakthrough case this week.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, and Rep. Jason Crow announced they tested positive Sunday. Gov. Larry Hogan and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis announced they tested positive Monday. The following day, Rep. Barbara Lee and Gov. Tim Walz said they tested positive.

The White House said Monday that President Joe Biden came into close contact with a staffer on Air Force One who tested positive. The White House announced he tested negative for the virus Wednesday.

Biden joined Clyburn on Friday at South Carolina State University to speak at the school's commencement ceremony.

Vice President Kamala Harris also came into contact with someone who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19, but she also tested negative Wednesday, the White House said.
