Google released its Year in Search recap Wednesday, highlighting the best and most popular searches of the year.
In 2021, the public used Google to learn about the Gabby Petito case, study the death of rapper DMX, and look at the best clips from the NBA.
Google processed trillions of searches in the past 12 months, according to a report.

"NBA," "DMX," "Gabby Petito," "Kyle Rittenhouse," and "Brian Laundrie" were the top searches in the United States.
Money was also on the minds of many.
"Mega Millions" was the sixth most popular search, "AMC Stock" ranked seventh, and "Stimulus Check" finished eighth.
"Georgia Senate Race" and "Squid Game" rounded out the top 10 in ninth and 10th place, respectively.

Rittenhouse was the most popular person in terms of searches, Kim Kardashian West and Ye were the most favored celebrity pairing, and Alec Baldwin dominated the search for actors.
