Democratic Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego ripped Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) for refusing to end the Senate filibuster after she condemned the killing of 18 children and multiple adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

“We are horrified and heartbroken by the senseless tragedy unfolding at Robb Elementary School in Texas and grateful to the first responders for acting swiftly,” Sinema tweeted Tuesday evening. “No families should ever have to fear violence in their children's schools.”

Aside from Sinema, Gallego had already lobbed profanity-laced attacks at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) earlier on Twitter over the Texas Republican's speculation that Democrats and the media would use the slayings of elementary school students Tuesday to call for gun restrictions.

“Please just stop.. unless you are willing to break the filibuster to actually pass sensible gun control measures you might as well just say ‘thoughts and prayers,’” Gallego responded to Sinema.

Gallego, a Marine veteran, is viewed as a potential 2024 primary challenger to Sinema despite no announcement of plans to vacate his seat in the 7th Congressional District, a Democratic stronghold in the Grand Canyon State. In April, Gallego broke the fundraising record in Arizona after he brought in $512,740 in the first quarter amid rumors he is weighing a primary bid against Sinema, a more centrist Democrat.

He also turned his frustrations toward Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who tweeted, "Our thoughts and prayers are with these families" following the shooting on Tuesday.

"F*** your prayers. They haven’t worked for the last 20 mass shootings how about passing laws that will stop these killings," Gallego said.

Gallego later cemented his frustrations at Cruz, saying, "Just to be clear f*** you @tedcruz you f***ing baby killer," in a subsequent tweet.

Sinema is one of two Democratic senators including Sen. Joe Manchin responsible for stalling President Joe Biden's key agenda items due to their unwillingness to end the Senate filibuster, which requires 60 votes in the 100-member chamber to allow legislation to be considered.

Earlier on Tuesday, Texas state Sen. Roland Gutierrez (D) said 18 children and three adults were dead, according to a briefing by state police. Three people wounded in the attack were hospitalized in serious condition, Gutierrez said.
