The grocery store chain Food Lion is doing its part to help the victims of the tornadoes that have ravaged large portions of the Midwest over the past week, sending supplies by the truckload to those in need.
Food Lion Feeds, the food donation service tied to the grocery store, contacted the Emergency Management Agency of Christian County, Kentucky, which serves one of the areas hit hard by the recent twisters. The organization asked if a donation of bottled drinking water could help support efforts to assist locals.

“Committed to addressing food insecurity in the cities and towns we serve, we wanted to assist our neighbors in need with this water donation,” a Food Lion spokesperson said.
The company will donate 38,000 bottles of drinking water to affected residents in Kentucky. A truck loaded with the water reportedly left from Salisbury, North Carolina, on Monday to head for Kentucky, WBTV reports.
The outbreak of tornadoes last week destroyed many towns across several states. The current death total has reached 88 as of Tuesday morning, a figure exceeding the tornado death toll for the entire year of 2020, which was 76, according to the Weather Channel.
