Democrats seized on Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court as an opportunity to raise money for the 2018 midterm elections.
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, whose mission is electing “local Democrats to statehouses across America,” sent a fundraising email shortly after the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual misconduct.
“The multiple disturbing allegations against Kavanaugh drew concern even from Republicans at all levels of government – but Trump and McConnell forced this vote all the same,” DLCC wrote in an email Saturday, noting that the the “battle is just beginning.”
“With Kavanaugh on the Court, the ONLY way we can defend our health care, voting rights, reproductive rights, and collective bargaining rights is to knock out Trump's allies up and down the ballot – and we just have ONE MONTH left to make the blue wave a reality,” the email stated.
The Senate voted Saturday by a 50-48 margin to confirm Kavanaugh to the highest court, and he will be sworn in later Saturday.
Kavanaugh has rejected all allegations of sexual misconduct.
